Perfumes are classified by fragrance family — such as woody, spicy, fresh, oriental and floral — and by concentration: Extrait de Parfum, Eau de Parfum (EDP), Eau de Toilette (EDT), Eau de Cologne (EDC), Eau Fraîche and perfume oils (attars).
Extrait de Parfum and perfume oils usually last longest (often 8 hours or more), followed by Eau de Parfum (6–8 hours). Woody, oriental and oud fragrances also tend to last longer than fresh citrus scents.
Choose EDP for longer wear, evenings and cooler weather; choose EDT for daytime, the office and hot climates. They are often slightly different compositions, so try both if you can.
Fresh, citrus, green, aquatic and light floral fragrances are best for daytime in Dubai’s heat. Save rich oud, amber and spicy scents for evenings and air-conditioned settings.
